To seek and maintain full-time position long term that offers work involving machinery, mechanical, and troubleshooting since it is a big interest and passion of mine.
In NVOC we received a broad understand of hydraulics and hydraulic systems. We learned about every component and it's internals when it came to creating a working hydraulics system, Whether that meant repairing, inspecting, lubricating, or simply just taking apart and putting it back together. We learned about reservoirs, filters, pumps, valves, accumulators and actuators. And of course a basic understanding of fittings and many different kind of pumps like gear pumps or the variable displacement pump.
At NVOC Aviation center we received a lot of hands on experience with a variety of tools and measuring tools. This included, but is not limited to: Micrometer, Torque wrench, Vernier Caliper, Variety of Pliers and Wire Strippers, Knowledge of Socket Sizes and Wrenches, Safety Wiring and Safety Wiring Pliers, Punches, Pneumatic tools and Electrical Tools and many more tools.
Learned a basic understanding of physics and Aerodynamics with mathematics attached to it. This included but is not limited to: lift, thrust, weight, and drag.
Basic understanding of electricity and reading electrical circuits. Proper knowledge of how to use a multimeter and various tools relating to cutting and splicing electrical wire.
Experience with operating machines as in the Lathe, Mill, Grinder, the drill, and small tools such as chisels, punches, and of course, files. In this short class I was able to learn a lot and I was exposed to a lot of machinery. Most of the time we were handed out projects of our own interest where we would create items using metals like steel or aluminum.
On my weekends or my free time I spend my hours resting a 1966 impala SS as a passion and a hobby. In a way, I use this hobby to try and familiarize myself with machinery and to overall refine my skills as a new mechanic. Some of the projects I have done to the car are replacing all of the shocks, upgrading the suspension components like the upper control arm and the lower control arm, I have replaced the spring and also shortened the ride height by putting new springs into it. I also play around with the carburetor by adjusting the air and gas mixture that the engine is receiving. But overall it is a good learning experience back at home.
