Reporting the Port Coordinator, responsible for day to day operations of the Port Site Emergency Response Team, operating as a Fire Captain and Alaska State EMT III. This includes medical emergencies, fire response, hazardous material spill containment and recovery, and clinic support for the Red Dog Port Site

• Work with Safety and Health Department to provide on site support and perform as Safety Officer during Fuel and Freight Offloading Operations, as well as any other special operations being performed at the Port.
• Facilitate on-boarding of new employees including safety orientation training, respirator fit tests, audiograms, medical surveillance blood draws.
• Perform administrative duties for the Port Site, including arranging all travel, completing payroll, and preparing and coordinating all necessary paperwork with Foss Maritime, FedNav, US Customs, and Teck Corporate Logistics during the 4 month shipping season.
• Perform bi-weekly training sessions with the Port ERT team, covering both Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
• Order and supply all safety Personal Protective Equipment for the Port Site. Implemented control systems to prevent shrinkage and manage stock controls.
• Responsible for day to day clinic operations, ranging from over the counter medicine dispensing to treatment of life threatening injuries and illnesses.

Working as an Engineer for a full time accredited municipal fire department, responsible for ensuring equipment readiness, responding to a variety of emergencies, including motor vehicle collisions, fires, and medical emergencies.

• Fully trained to operate all emergency response equipment, including aerial ladder trucks, fire department pumpers, rescue trucks, and water tankers.
• Operated as a stand-alone Sate of Alaska certified EMT III, under a large expanded scope.
• Responsible for annual service testing of all ladders for the department.
• Other responsibilities included being a Scott certified Air-Pak Service Technician, performing repairs and troubleshooting on site, as well as being responsible for ordering all medical supplies used by the fire department in the course of their duties.

As a Firefighter/EMT 2, worked full time (56 hours per week) as a Student Firefighter while attending University of Alaska Fairbanks', Fire Science Program.

• Responsible for daily checks of equipment to ensure operational readiness.
• Responded to medical and fire emergencies serving the University campus, as well as a large portion of the city of Fairbanks.
• Completed the UFD firefighter academy, finishing top of class in academic achievement.

As a paid on-call Firefighter, responsible for responding to emergency calls to provide support and manpower.

• Frequently performed multiple 24 hour shifts at the department to provide manpower support.
• Completed Initial IFSAC Firefighter certification, consisting of an over 300 hour fire training academy culminating in a final proctored exam and national certification.
• Completed initial State of Alaska EMT I certification, consisting of 150 hours of instruction.
• Responded to numerous emergencies while an on-call, performing all duties of certified Firefighters and EMTs.
