
Brandon Underwood is a veteran law enforcement officer with the Warner Robins Police Department for 11 years. He is currently a Criminal Investigations Division Sergeant and an Entry Team Leader for the department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. Sergeant Underwood is a self-motivated person who finds strength in serving in a team-oriented capacity. Sergeant Underwood started his career in 2013 serving as a booking and transport officer. He then attended basic mandate training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center where he became a state certified law enforcement officer. Detective Underwood was then assigned to the Patrol Division where he became a Field Training Officer (FTO) and a member of SWAT. He was later assigned to the department’s Pro-Active Crime Enforcement (PACE) unit. Near the end of 2020, Sergeant Underwood was promoted to the rank of Detective and became an investigator with the department’s Narcotics and Intelligence Unit, and in 2023 became a member of the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit as Detective. Sergeant Underwood is a respected member within the law enforcement community.
During Sergeant Underwood’s time as a Patrol Officer, he was called upon to handle a multitude of duties ranging from answering calls for service to assisting with supervisory roles within the Patrol Division. He mentored new Officers as both a Patrolman and FTO. Sergeant Underwood trained multiple new officers, some of which became future FTOs. Sergeant Underwood took on additional responsibilities by assisting Patrol supervision with prioritizing calls for service in the absence of squad supervision. During his time on Patrol, Sergeant Underwood was also selected to be a member of the department SWAT team where he served in the capacities of Perimeter/Containment, an Entry Operator and a Breacher. In 2019, he was assigned to the PACE unit where he furthered his knowledge in interdiction strategies, community relations, criminal procedure, and search and seizure. Due to Sergeant Underwood’s knowledge, he was sought out by both Patrolman and Supervisors for advice on search and seizure related scenarios.
In November of 2020, Sergeant Underwood was promoted to the rank of Detective where he served in the capacity of an Investigator for NIU. During his time with NIU, Sergeant Underwood conducted multiple types of investigations including narcotics sales and trafficking, prostitution and gangs. Sergeant Underwood was also responsible for the completion of operational planning, threat assessment, and the development and organization of search warrants. During this time, Sergeant Underwood was selected for the role of Assistant Team Leader for SWAT. In this capacity, he was responsible for the development and organization of SWAT Operational Planning. Responsibilities included the selection and organization of personnel to safely and effectively conduct a SWAT mission. Sergeant Underwood aided in the development and implementation of training for the SWAT team. In 2023, Sergeant Underwood was selected to fulfill the duties of a Person’s Crimes Detective in CID, became an Entry Team Leader for SWAT, and has also gained certification as a POST Instructor. Sergeant Underwood has furthered his experience in investigations and was the lead investigator in multiple types of crimes ranging from Homicides and Aggravated Assaults to Burglaries and Rapes. Sergeant Underwood’s role as Entry Team Leader for SWAT has furthered his experience in the organization and execution of tactical operations and training. Within this role, Sergeant Underwood is responsible for leading the Entry Team and the organization and leading of training evolutions. Sergeant Underwood also serves as a liaison of information and relationships both within the Warner Robins Police Department and with outside agencies and entities as well. Sergeant Underwood has also headed initiatives for the implementation of new and appropriate equipment for the SWAT team so they are able to operate more safely and better serve the department and community.
In October of 2024, Sergeant Underwood was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant and was assigned to the Patrol Division as a supervisor on Squad 2. In this position, Sergeant Underwood was responsible for up to 13 personnel made up of Officers, Booking and Front Desk Personnel. Sergeant Underwood completed objective performance evaluations and reviewed incident reports for completeness and accuracy. He was able to gain experience with completing payroll paperwork, handled relations and complaints involving citizens and department personnel, and mentored Officers in both professional and personal situations. In July 2025, Sergeant Underwood was assigned back to the Criminal Investigations Division as a Sergeant. In this capacity Sergeant Underwood continues the leading and mentorship of those within his span of control. Sergeant Underwood is responsible for up to 9 Detectives, who investigate cases ranging from Criminal Trespass to Homicide. Due to Sergeant Underwood’s experience, he provides investigative guidance to Detectives during their case investigations. Sergeant Underwood has further developed relationships within the Police Department, outside agencies and the Houston County District Attorney’s Office to ensure proper the proper investigation of cases, leading to an effective prosecution process.
