- Teach Education (EDU) courses in face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid instruction, supporting students pursuing careers and further education in teaching and early childhood education.
- Advise and mentor Education students regarding academic progress, program requirements, educational pathways, and career goals.
- Support recruitment and retention efforts for Education programs, including outreach to area high schools and prospective students.
- Developed High School Hangouts, an outreach initiative designed to build relationships with high school students and encourage enrollment in EDU courses and pathways.
- Coordinate student internship and field-placement opportunities with early childhood education programs and community partners.
- Mentor interns throughout their field experiences and maintain communication with students and participating sites.
- Conduct visits to childcare centers and other educational partners to support students, strengthen field experiences, and maintain community relationships.
- Support implementation of the 3 Rs Grant, including intern coordination, mentoring, site visits, and required program data collection and reporting.
- Collaborated in the development of WPCC's mock preschool classroom/laboratory, funded by The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, to expand hands-on learning opportunities for Education students and provide a resource for community outreach.
- Help coordinate annual professional panels, connecting Education students with educators and other professionals in the field.
- Help coordinate annual career fairs to connect students with educational employers and career opportunities.
- Develop relationships with community agencies to create opportunities for Education students to participate in community events and gain practical experience working with children and families.
