Perform specialized physical health care procedures including, but not limited to:
-toileting/diaper changes
-blood pressure monitoring
-catheterization,/blood samples
-blood glucose (diabetic) monitoring, insulin administration
-vaccination administrations
-glucagon administration
-PCC charting
- gastrostomy tube feeding method, ostomy care, foley catheter care.
-oxygen administration, respiratory assistance with inhaler or nebulizer care.
-communicates and responds to doctors, RN's, LVN's and other staff members regarding medical issues and/or care plans.
-provides emergency medical care including CPR and first aid as necessary in the event of serious illness or injury under the direction of the MD and/ or registered nurse.
-desk nurse (when RN supervisor staffing is short, I am put as desk nurse to oversee all of the resident's in the facility, in place of the RN Supervisor; this consists of answering calls, attending to any concerns form family/loved ones, making the schedule for oncoming shift, inputting/discharging orders per MD, reading lab/x-ray results and relaying to MD, admissions/discharges, and more.
-enhanced team communication by conducting regular staff meetings, addressing concerns, and promoting open dialogue before start of shift to make sure all nurses are on the same page and are made aware of any changes of conditions of any resident's that are focus patients.
-maintained and promoted autonomy and rights of patients to provide protection and enforce dignity and respect.
-Answer signal lights and requests-for-service to assist patient services fulfillment.
-Conduct routine checks on patient vitals, blood pressure, temperature, blood sugar, respirations and heart rate.
-Assist patients with bathing and oral hygiene to promote healthy habits and overall wellness.
