Hello, my name is Bren. I was born and raised in Southern California. First, I'd like to get something out of the way...There is a lazy, robotic way to deliver this summary. That won't work for me, I would rather speak from the heart, but first I will insert this "recommended" summary, offered by a resume guidance site.
I am Dynamic professional with a proven track record at Starbucks, excelling in customer loyalty and team collaboration. Recognized for enhancing store aesthetics and optimizing layouts at Brandy Melville. Strong problem-solving abilities and clear communication skills drive success in fast-paced environments, ensuring exceptional service and satisfaction. Committed to maintaining cleanliness and attention to detail.
I suppose that sends a decent enough message about my strengths, but that is not enough for me. And its certainly not enough for Christian Dior.
In my own words...I am a dedicated professional, with a very wide range of skills. I started working in my teens in a hat store I knew nothing about, yet stayed with that company for almost 4 years, gaining valuable sales experience and overcoming my own adolescent social anxiety. My manager didn't care if I had teen acne and felt too shy to engage with customers, he taught me how to navigate the art of sales. Regardless of my insecurities. I'm thankful in hindsight. This job gave me confidence. Also, I'm pleased to report my skin issues have long since been resolved.
Win, win.
My next job: I got to thrive in my Visual position with Brandy Melville. I had a passion for fashion and a job to do, something that gave me a sense of pride. I created art from my displays. The owner of the company saw my work and had photos sent to every store in the US and Canada. He told them "this is how i want every single store to look". That job involved hard physical labor but I loved it. Constant creativity, new ideas required, weekly refreshes from midnight to six AM, sweating like pigs to create artistically while manually rearranging inventory/wall fixtures, with efficiency and urgency. I loved it and it taught me how to balance my own work ethic. Passion and diligent work, that magic combo.
After that, I moved and got a new job at Starbucks. I had no experience in any sort of food industry. I had retail experience but the hospitality element felt foreign to me. I had no business working at Starbucks, I was not cut out for the high intensity that came with that atmosphere, but it seemed like a decent option at the time. When I found out I was hired, it came as a surprise to me and I wondered how many days I would last. Well I adapted, I grew, I embraced the new challenges of that environment, and ended up staying for almost three years. Not sure how that happened, but I learned about my own resilience and willingness to exceed my own expectations. I did not love that job, but I knew the time invested would somehow give me lessons to last a lifetime.
Now I am here, and I finally feel ready to begin a new chapter. Rising to the occasion of who I am ready to be, and Dior means everything to me.
I have a deep respect for the art and industry of fashion. I have had a true love for fashion since I was a little girl, and Dior has always held a special place in my heart. Even if I wasn't wearing it yet, it felt like my fashion brand soulmate. I've always been a Dior girl.
It may be a small role in the grand scheme of Dior, but to me, this job would be a dream come true, not just for my younger self (I bought Blooming Bouquet with my first paycheck in high school, from that point on, I was "Miss Dior" at heart), but also for the woman I've become today. If given the opportunity, I will be dedicated to helping preserve the timeless beauty and austere of Christian Dior, the brand that speaks for itself, subtle yet powerful. Boldly blooming (pun slightly intended), unapologetically glowing from within. The vision of prestige and excellence.
I do believe I am perfect for this job. I will be thankful and focused. I will be present and prepared. The "Miss Dior" embodiment, the way in which I resonate deeply: feminine and strong, elegant and empowered, cultured and well composed. Classy and professional, punctual and attentive. Focused on showing up as the "Miss Dior" my teen self declared I'd be. Lucky for her, the present day me is truly qualified for this job, and ready to learn and grow.
Thank you for taking the time, I sincerely hope to hear back about this position, No matter what, I appreciate the opportunity.
All my best, Bren Martishius
