  • In 1990, I participated in the Third Biennial Graduate Nursing Student Intrastate Research Symposium at Auburn University in Auburn, AL. The research paper was entitled “Life Events Associated with the Onset of Chemical Dependence in Nurses”.
  • In 2012, I completed and presented my Capstone Project at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. The project was entitled “Boundary Violation: Education of Nurses and Mental Health Workers”.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • In 2003, I developed a nursing elective course – “Cultural Diversity in Nursing,” which offered students an opportunity to explore and gain a greater understanding of the variety of cultural backgrounds of future patients. The elective was taught until the Alabama College System adopted the integrated curriculum in 2008.
  • From 2006 to present, I have presented at several educational conferences on topics such as: On Becoming Culturally Competent Substance Abuse: Signs and Symptoms Spiritual Care Herbal Contraindications and Delegation Methamphetamines Redirecting Your Patient Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Parish Nursing and Congregational Health Ministry
