Pre-operative phone assessments as well as post-operative phone assessments of patients.
Prepare pre-op suite for patients, complete a pre-op assessment and obtain informed consent. Establish IV access and obtain labs required by physicians/anesthesia. Review diagnostics and communicate results to physicians and OR staff as needed. Provide comfort to patients and family. Assist anesthesia in bedside regional blocks. Administer pre-op medications as ordered. Work in a unified workflow with the rest of the healthcare team to create exceptional patient care.
Assist with Postoperative care
Patient teaching based upon specific procedures planned.
Utilized the nursing process to provide a safe and therapeutic outcome in the GI setting that includes preparing rooms according to specific endoscopic procedures to be preformed, interviewing patients to obtain medical information, ensuring Informed Consent for the correct procedure, obtaining Vital Signs, positioning patients for specific procedures, education of the patient and family members, assisting physicians with procedures for the patients as appropriate while maintaining accurate records and collecting and properly handling specimens during the procedures. Log specimens into the patients electronic record and sends specimens to the appropriate Pathology or Cytology laboratory. Assists with transport of the Patient to the OR procedure room and the Post-Operative area.
Charge Nurse duties including staffing and operational tasks involving facilitating cooperation between Pre-Op, Surgical Services, PACU, and the Surgeons.
Assisting Anesthesia with Regional Blocks
Staff Nursing duties of ensuring patient safety via Informed Consent, establishing IV/PICC access and obtaining labs as ordered as well as IV/IM/Oral Medication Administration, and patient education, while protecting patient rights and allowing for dignity and privacy the pre-op setting. Maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic records.
Management of various clients and monitoring care plans to track the progress for Physicians/Home Health Agency/Pharmacy.
Executing the Physicians Plan of Care in the patients home.
Collaborating with the Physicians, the Home Health Agency, the Pharmacy, and the Patient to devise an individual plan of care.
Providing direct care of the patient including IV access for IV infusions, obtaining Informed Consent for the procedure, Administering IV Infusions via IV or PICC line, and taking/recording vital signs/monitoring throughout the infusion for side effects/anaphylaxis. A continuous reassessment of clients needs preformed for a significant health status change in condition or as the Physician and/or Health Agency requires. Completing lab draws and practicing safety precautions throughout the visit. Ordering medication and supplies as needed for the home.
