Volunteered with special olympics for many years.

As a volunteer with special olympics, my duties included helping the athletes in all aspects of the games. Cheering them on, celebrating their victories or comforting them when needed. Promoted good sportsmanship, self growth and independence.

Started the Thursday morning bingo at the Bektash Temple

After looking for fun and social activities for clients and finding few, I decided with the help of a family of one of my clients to start up a bingo program for clients. Bingo at the Bektash Temple on Thursday mornings was a great way for clients to meet new people, recognize letters and numbers, build listening skills and win prizes. I made sure that they were recognized after winning, celebrated their birthdays with them and made sure that I knew all their names personally so I could greet each one of them as they came in or came up to claim a prize.
