I started my working career with IBM in 1999 at the age of 19. I worked in the manufacturing of microchips for a year and a half and earned several awards in my short time there. After a year and a half I decided to enroll full time at Dutchess Community College and went on to earn my Associates Degree in Business Administration. After graduating from DCC I enrolled in SUNY Plattsburgh where I continued to study Business. I quickly realized that the small class structure of DCC was more my speed and I left SUNY Plattsburgh to begin a career with my father in construction. I worked and learned under him for approximately 15 years. Since his retirement I have acted as President and lead carpenter for the past 4 or 5 years. In that time I have done jobs that range from additions and multi sight contracts to small residential repairs. For the most part I have enjoyed my time as an apprentice and as a President. Where does that leave me now? It leaves me for a yearning to be a part of something. Being an Entrepreneur is an amazing experience and the dream of so many, but it gets lonely. I really want to be a longtime employee in a place that appreciates my efforts and leaves me with the feeling of community. I know that my experience doesn’t fully line up with the job that I am applying for but hard work, commitment, and a desire to excel will always overcome experience.
