  • STT 200: Statistical Methods
  • CHE 431: Chemical Reaction Engineering
  • CHE 312: Mass Transfer and Separations
  • CHE 321: Thermodynamics of Chemical Engineering
  • CEM 355: Organic Laboratory One

The engineering courses improved upon all of the skills listed through the instructors guidance towards critically thinking and brainstorming possible solutions to real world issues. The organic lab course produced a proper safety etiquette within any lab environment and the Statistical Methods course helped build an understanding of data analysis, how to properly conduct experiments, and interpreting the results in the correct and meaningful way. Mass transfer and Separations as well as Thermodynamics have helped gain knowledge of Distillation and technical knowledge about refinery's in the US.

Projects

Global Tech Experience

The Global Tech Experience was offered by Michigan State and it provided a greater understanding of data analysis and intercultural communications. They achieved this by having us watching TED talks of peoples experiences in the world and they shared how to communicate with people effectively. Global Tech used Mursion to help us practice our conflict resolution, criticism, and general communication skills. Through these resources and my own self reflection, I was able to improve upon my weakness to become a more effective communicator. Global tech also taught me how to use Excel, in particular, how to use pivot tables, reading and translating different formats, using various formulas, and improving our problem solving skills. They then taught us how to create effective data visualization in Tableau and how to conduct A/B tests.

Reactor Design Problem

The group searched for issues involving hydrogenation and how a chemical reactor could be employed alongside a chemical reaction taking place to make at least 1 million dollars worth of revenue. The topic collectively decided on was Ammonia production since it is involved with food development and cleaning applications. We utilized knowledge taught in class to produce a reactor optimal for a given setting, that minimized cost of the reactor, cost of reactants, and time constraints.
