Dedicated Architect specializing in commercial buildings. Advanced knowledge of BIM workflows and automation for design and construction documentation. Career focused on holistic experience in master planning, mixed use, core and shell, building codes, complex facade systems, and consultant coordination.
At DES I have developed advanced BIM techniques to significantly reduce the amount of labor necessary to implement design changes and changes to our set of drawings. With a focus on details and core & shell production I have taken responsibility over how a set of drawings comes together from a design coordination standpoint, how our details need to look in order to achieve the design outcome, and how we use Revit in new and innovative ways. Building once again on the knowledge acquired from my previous company, I worked intensely to understand how building components come together, as well as modeling and drawing processes that are super effective. I also began to understand project management and accountability while at DES. The last new skill I developed here is business development. With the help of the firm's partners, I opened the DES Austin office after making hundreds of connections over the course of a year, marketing for DES, and starting/managing new relationships locally within the industry.
Building upon skills I had developed at Nelsen Partners, combined with what I had learned from passing my ARE exams and becoming licensed, in this role I learned new building typologies and work with a more diverse clientele. Here I worked directly with representatives from the biggest tech companies in the bay area, and my experience shifted towards fast-paced project design, management, documentation, and construction administration on projects for the biggest names in tech. This experience has refined my knowledge of details, mechanical systems, local and state building codes/regulations, and project delivery/coordination.
With a career emphasis on holistic design from concept to construction, I worked on a very wide range of project scales and locations, from a 250-acre master plan in the Middle East, to small interior retail design projects. Coordinating with a variety of consultants and builders, I worked as project designer for several projects but also spent roughly one-third of my time here doing construction documents for core and shell mixed use commercial buildings, while also honing my software skills in Revit. I also gained notable experience in large scale mixed use master planning where I developed several custom-made BIM automation processes for design work-flow.
Worked with early concept design phases on two projects: A fashion retail store in Connecticut, and a residential/commercial complex in Italy. My involvement included site inspection, 3d design/modeling/rendering, and drawing documentation. This role advanced my software skills in Rhino as well as my understanding of project delivery methods and presentations.
