Growing up as the son of a Civil Engineer i was taught how everything works.
My first jobs at 14, and 15, was farming a 50 acre Orchard as the assistant to the orchard foreman. Tractor Repair ect.
In Highschool, I took Classes in metal and wood shop.
in college I took classes in Ski Area Operations which included everything to operating a ski area like Snow cat mechanics, lift operations, ski patrol, ski instruction, and Resort Hospitality.
After graduating i started with Mt. Batchelor Ski Corporation as a Ski Coach for several years.
In 1987 moved to Hood River Oregon and worked in the Windsurfing Industry in the Summer, and the Ski Area Operations on Mt. Hood for 25 years.
worked side jobs in Bartending all along the way. at age 33 I met my wife Dayna and we bought a 26ft sailboat together, sailed the San Juan Islands of the Puget Sound and got married. A year later we moved aboard our new 39ft Landfall Cutter and started work with the Brower Boat Company in Seattle as my wife went through Nursing School. We upgraded the boat and sailed the Puget Sound of Canada and US extensivly. After my wife graduated we circumnavigated Vancouver Island and sailed back to Hood River where I returned to Ski Area operations. we had our son Dylan and sailed back to the Puget Sound where I worked and managed yachts while raising our boy for the next 11 years.
We sold the boat when it was ready for a refit and moved to Durango, Colorado where my wife worked as a flight nurse. we bought a couple 60s Landcruisers and i restored them while part time bartending. Bought a house, completly upgraded it and sold it to buy our current boat the 41ft Islander Freeport sailboat in LA. When winter was over, we sailed it doublehanded to Portland, Oregon where I worked for West Marine in the parts department 6 months until I came onboard as a marine mechanic with Schooner Creek Boatworks. I worked almost 3 yearsthere. I left on good terms and started back to my own company, Johnston Yacht Mangement until our departure for St Thomas just over a year ago.
I am skilled in all aspects of Yacht repair and have a good record in all that i have acheived.
