Program Director for Strings, Orchestra, and Chamber Music

  • Oversee all aspects of strings and chamber music programming for the school.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and coach 38 regular faculty members, 20 substitute faculty, and 3 staff positions across 11 sites throughout the greater Chicagoland area.
  • Determine teacher workload and assigned classes and lessons for individual faculty.
  • Work with Dean and VP of Educational Affairs to strengthen existing program models and develop new ones.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the quality of string instruction across a spectrum of programs for a variety of ages (four - eighteen) and skill levels (beginner to highly advanced).
  • Develop, nurture, and maintain relationships with eight client schools and external partners including Lyric Opera, Music of the Baroque, Harris Theater, and Ballet Chicago.
  • Work with both faculty and Student Services Department to facilitate growth in programs, and recruit and retain high level students.
  • Work with Development and Marketing departments to prepare reports on strings programs for funding organizations, as well as recruitment and advertising events and collateral.
  • Oversee monthly payroll and expenses for the Strings and Chamber Music Departments.
  • Manage departmental budgets and assist with crafting an overall Program Department budget in conjunction with fellow Program Directors and the Dean and VP of Educational Affairs.
  • Oversee and execute multiple performances of up to 300 students, competitions, and other major events throughout the year.
