BRIAN CRUZ

In my current role as the Director of Enrollment and Business Development, I have worked extensively with data management and analysis. Through network of interconnected Google Sheets, I created a database that dispersed relevant data to necessary parties and would update with new applicants and payments. Additionally, I would track key metrics to ensure were on track to reach set goals. To keep the staff informed, I would generate both generalized and specific reports using the data. This role has taught me the importance of standardized data managements, and the insights we can gleam with consistent samples. During undergraduate studies, I worked with an Austin based non-profit with partner communities and organization in several Latin American countries. In my role as a Project Intern, I worked directly with an Ecuadorian Community of about 600 and on their business development team. The responsibilities of this role were to coordinate revenue generating programs with partnered communities to compensate lost funds due to COVID impacting their eco-tourist economy. In addition, I also work on product development for chocolate and beauty and health products. These projects taught me one form of the intersection of environmental work and business.

• Rise Program, President, Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Executed plans resulting in $1,100 for events and student supplies by building partnerships with the Macomb's Business School, Led 7 committees to enact one vision leading to the expansion to 2 schools and our highest enrollment at 15 students per session, Created long term sustainability by formalizing 8 leadership roles and outlining necessary processes through end of year reflection documents, Attended 48 weekly sessions to ensure quality and to manage interpersonal, technical, and communication issues, Coordinated with my staff to put on a professional pitch event with 60 attendees with food and venue ~$1000 of fundraising
• Campus Environmental Center, Green Events Meeting Chair, Spring 2018, Fall 2020, Worked in a team of four to create a zero waste program with objective metrics and goals to lower event landfill waste, Coordinated waste pickup directly for 3 orgs resulting in hundreds of pounds of recyclable and compostable waste diverted, Developed a Zero Waste Program recruitment strategy resulting in 12 consistent orgs and 4 university events enrolling, Tracked metrics on orgs serviced and the weight of diverted waste allowing us to understand our growth and impact, Established and maintained relationships with organizations in the Zero Waste program through coordination and presentations
• University of Texas Micro Farm Team Member, Fall 2019 - Spring 2020. Researched sustainable agriculture methods and impacts, strategized what would work, and implemented necessary changes Mapped out terrain changes, building sites, crop area, and necessary infrastructure to ensure efficient and pragmatic design Spent 4 hours a week participating in the planting of, caring for, and harvesting of crops to be donated to UT’s food pantry
