  • Regularly conduct pre-broadcast/pre-publication script and story review for CBS News national network broadcasts, including CBS THIS MORNING, CBS EVENING NEWS, CBS SUNDAY MORNING, and 48 HOURS, as well as various news documentaries, docuseries, and digital news programs and reports


  • Counsel CBS News production teams on a wide range of related issues, including copyright/fair use, defamation, fair report privilege, privacy, and rights of publicity


  • Routinely counsel CBS News Bureau Chiefs and other senior news executives as to legal matters of import to their operations, including policy development, dispute resolution and navigation of new and evolving areas of law


  • Coordinate with litigation team to respond to, defend, and dispose of legal claims asserted by outside parties


  • Ensure compliance with U.S Sanctions regulations and export controls in connection with newsgathering overseas


  • Manage outside counsel in connection with overseas newsgathering and production activities implicating foreign laws
