Performed all duties associated with being a unit Charge Nurse. Some of these duties included admitting new patients to the unit with different diagnoses such as Total Brain Injury, Alzheimer’s Dementia , CVA, Brain Tumors and Spinal Cord Injury. Assisted in the management and treatment of all types of Secondary Neuropsychological diagnoses that resulted from severe head injuries. Made rounds daily with all physicians on their individual patients. Communicated directly with all physicians for acquiring needed physician orders, then transcribed the physician orders directly onto the patient's record and ensured the physician orders were carried out safely, timely and accurately. Attended weekly Team staffing meetings to discuss how patients are progressing toward their short and long term goals. Upon discharge of patients from the hospital, I was responsible for calling in all of the patient's final discharge medications as ordered by the discharging physician to the patient's pharmacy of choice. Addressed patient and family concerns and ensured their concerns resolved to their satisfaction. Reviewed patient charts for discrepancies not in line with the hospital’s Policy and Procedure Manual.
