I'm a teacher at the Options Academy. I currently teach US history, world history, and criminology. I have also taught government and boys team sports. I have served on the leadership committee, the advisory committee, and the safety committee. The first three years at Broken Arrow I was an assistant 8th football coach and co-offensive coordinator. I began driving a middle school athletic shuttle bus after school during the fall of 2021 when Covid-19 diminished the number of bus drivers and I currently still drive the athletic shuttle bus. For the last year I have shadowed our administration during my plan time at school. I have completed intake interviews for the Options Academy, I have sat in on discipline issues, I have helped our counselor with credit counts, and I have helped our law enforcement when the drug dog was checking cars.
I taught world history and government in high school, geography in junior high, American history in 6th grade, PE for 5th and 6th grade, junior high athletics, and varsity athletics. I coached varsity football, Junior high basketball, baseball, and track. I also coached 5th and 6th grade basketball and track. I also drove a bus route in the morning and after school when it did not interfere with athletics.
I taught World history, Sociology, Geography, Junior high athletics, and varsity athletics I coached as a varsity football assistant, a varsity baseball assistant, and a JV head baseball coach. This was a challenging year because I was driving from Verdigris to Cleveland, which took about an hour and a half. The reason for only lasting a year.
At Victory I taught world history, Oklahoma history, government, junior high athletics, and varsity athletics. This was Victory Christian first year to have varsity football. I helped start the program as an assistant coach. I was also the head Jr. High football coach, the 9th grade boys basketball head coach, varsity baseball assistant coach, and head JV baseball coach. I also worked a summer program for athletes to come, workout, and compete in 7 on 7 football. I was on a leadership team. My job was to keep track of sophomores struggling with grades.
This was my first teaching job. They were on a on block schedule in high school. I taught American History and World History in high school on A-days. Then on B-days I was paired with the Elementary counselor and helped track students who were falling behind on their reading tests. I was called the Tiger Tracker. We would take them and read with them and test after each book read to help them progress and comprehend what they were reading. I was also the assistant varsity boys basketball coach and the head JV boys basketball coach.
I passed the Oklahoma State Principals Exam in December of 2023.
I wanted to explain the gap in teaching from July 2002 to July of 2013. I could not find a job the summer of 2002, I went to work for QuikTrip and it was working out for my family at the time so I stayed with it for 5 years. No upward mobility led me to attempt going back to school for my nursing license. During this time I worked as a CNA for many Nursing homes for a few months, then landed a job at St. John's Medical center. Nursing school did not workout. I worked at St. John's as a CNA and as an Ortho Tech fitting various types of braces and some casting throughout the hospital, mostly on 10 west the ortho surgical recovery floor. I kept this job from 2007 until I found a teaching job at Foyil Public Schools in 2013.
