Work History

Senior Manager

DISNEY
Seattle, WA
11.2023 - Current
  • Continued ownership and growth of the Search domain across Disney’s streaming offerings by managing a
dedicated group of product managers, working with stakeholders around the globe and facilitating discussions with
leadership across the company to improve the search experience for all users and markets.
    • Built a data platform from the ground up to support internal schemas, data validation and lineage while providing a
one-stop shop for troubleshooting data issues. This tool suite is instrumental to the reduction of data related
errors, improving time to production, reducing overall costs related to new data projects and a cornerstone of
    future PII compliance initiatives.
    • Established the vision, roadmap and early prototypes for conversational discovery AI’s and offshoots for the Disney
suite of products to position ourselves as market-leading innovators and provide immediate value on the path to a
    larger solution.
    • Led initiatives to reinvigorate our foundational content understanding by utilizing generative AI tools and
techniques leading to easier scalability of recommendation models with stronger baseline KPIs.

Principal Product Manager

DISNEY
Seattle, WA
10.2021 - 11.2023
  • Responsible for unifying and evolving Disney Streaming's global search experience, popularity concepts, i2i models, metadata graphs and embeddings that power foundational aspects of keeping viewers excited and engaged.
  • Co-led initiatives to reduce the overhead cost of Search across Disney Streaming with engineering counterparts resulting in a savings of $4 k per day without any negative impact on core search KPIs.
  • Orchestrated full product lifecycle initiatives across product, design, engineering and editorial teams globally, resulting in cohesive consumer experience initiatives that resonated strongly with our users.
  • Evolved Trending concepts from simplistic daily diff models to more robust formats that addressed several key issues, resulting in +1.7% titles per viewer increase and +3% discovery hour increase (site-wide) for Hulu.
  • Implemented a real-time trending concept for live events in the Latin American market that accounted for regional preferences in sporting events and would accurately reflect localized viewing patterns.
  • Drove the evolution of user-triggered concepts ("Because you (action)") from a deterministic model into a neural net resulting in a +0.8% increase in streaming hours per viewer (site-wide).
  • Led the personalization and algorithmic requirements, trade-off discussions, strategy, ticketing and execution of ad hoc, time sensitive multi-team initiatives.
  • Established the path to unity for item-to-item models in the combined Disney Streaming / Hulu ecosystem.
  • Mentored new hires, directly managed senior ICs and led initiatives to promote unity/stability during multiple reorganizations, departures and mergers within Disney Streaming.

Senior Product Manager

HULU
Seattle, WA
05.2019 - 10.2021
  • Led global teams of data scientists, content programmers and marketers in building algorithmic solutions to minimize the required manual curation effort while still giving humans a voice in otherwise algo-driven areas.
  • Organized collaboration and shared objectives with international machine learning engineers/researchers to drive new product initiatives from concept to fruition.
  • Improved product execution for global research teams, taking them from relative obscurity to consistent experimentation with a regular release cadence, resulting in strong KPI improvements to the core services YoY.
  • Built foundational versions of content and user understanding concepts that are utilized as the backbone for recommendation concepts across the streaming services.
  • Added new signals to core collaborative filtering techniques, resulting in +0.4% increased titles per viewer and +0.15% hours per viewer (site-wide) from a relatively low-traffic area of the site.
  • Evaluated and partnered with third-party data vendors to procure supplemental training data for ML models, improving our ability to better separate titles in our metadata graph for foundational content relationship concepts.
  • Led initiatives to derive content metadata through NLP BERT machine learning techniques to fill known data gaps and scale them to cover the entirety of the catalog so all titles had parity in their metadata (>85% precision rate).
  • Used key market research to drive new data aggregation concepts that would provide a better user experience (trending, binge-worthy, popular, most liked, best of and other such concepts).
  • Collaboratively built "set pool" concepts with programming and analyst teams, revolutionizing recommendations in the Hulu experience, allowing for hyperpersonalization that still felt like a handshake with the user.
  • Created a Reco Training Yard to improve the scalability and sustainability of recommendation models. Included AWS cost analysis/optimizing, feature reliability/stability, and building multi-GPU training capabilities.

Product Manager

PITCHBOOK
Seattle, WA
10.2017 - 05.2019
  • Partnered with UX to completely redesign the home "dashboard" into a fully personalized feed of data insights that updated throughout the day resulting in major increases to daily active users and login frequency.
  • Worked hand-in-hand with a UX counterpart to conceptualize, iterate, evaluate and build new data concepts based on client feedback loops, focus groups of VC/PE investors and internal executive teams.
  • Led the implementation of analytical insights and user behavior tracking to improve the evolution of core product offerings, ensuring we understood how our users were interacting with our product to better serve their needs.
