I started out my working career in South Carolina my 9th grade summer with Thrift Brothers Inc where I continued working summers until going full time when I graduated high school. This is where I learned the value of hard work. I was given many opportunities here where I started as a laborer, over time became the operator of various pieces of heavy equipment, and obtained my Class A CDL when I was 19 years old of which I used driving dump trucks, tractor trailer dumps, as well as pulling ramp lowboys hauling heavy equipment. In 2007 I got the opportunity to pursue a career in Firefighting which I took, I have worked as a Firefighter both stateside and overseas. I have been a firefighter, Driver/Operator, and ultimately a Captain of a shift. Throughout my stateside firefighting I usually maintained a part time job on my days off running heavy equipment and driving a truck. In early 2021 my family and I moved from South Carolina to Paris TX and later to Detroit TX. After moving I took a little time to spend with my family after having been in Iraq for about 3 1/2 years. I took a job at a local farm to try and stay close to home as long as possible. Ultimately I took a job in the oil field in West Texas until getting back to contract firefighting where I spent a little over 2 years working in Africa, more specifically Somalia with Fluor. There I started as an Aviation firefighter before moving up to Shift Captain. I remained with Fluor until the end of March this year 2026. Thank you for your time and consideration.
With Fluor I served in the position of Aviation Shift Captain in Somalia Africa at Baledogle Military Airfield (BMA). There we served as the Fire Department for BMA where we have structures as well as the airfield to protect. My job as a Shift Captain at BMA is quite a diverse position. I am responsible for the day to day for my shift to include work schedules, management of our daily structure, as well as working with our personal to schedule vacations in advance so we can maintain sufficient manning levels, and the list goes on. My job is to ensure my shift runs smoothly, efficiently, and maintains a safe always ready to respond to any kind of emergency posture.
With Schlumberger I was hired as an Equipment Operator. As an Equipment Operator I was part of a Cement crew that traveled between oil rigs cementing wells. As part of the job I drove a tractor trailer from rig to rig hauling the dry cement and equipment needed for the job. Once on location we rigged up for the job, completed the job, and then rigged down. While there I moved from Equipment Operator I to the Equipment Operator II position. Also, I was in training to become a Pumper and had completed Schlumberger’s Pumper training school.
At Chad Unruh and Co LLC I was hired to run a Bull dozer and Trackhoe on the farm for various purposes such as land clearing and grading work. I also drove a tractor trailer hauling hay and corn, as well as anything else that was needed.
I was a contract Firefighter for KBR at Al Asad Airbase in Iraq. I worked primarily on the airfield as a Crash Fire/Rescue Firefighter, responding to inflight emergencies on military aircraft from around the world.
I worked as a Firefighter and later a Captain with Oconee County Emergency Services. We responded to a wide variety of calls, primarily fire and EMS, but also to include, dive, swiftwater, search and rescue, as well as many other special rescue disciplines. My job here as Captain was to manage paid personnel's day to day operations, as well as on emergency scenes to mitigate those emergencies.
I worked part time on my days off from the Fire Department either driving a dump truck hauling rock, or running equipment. I ran a small Komatsu dozer, small Kubota trackhoe and Kubota skidsteer doing grading work.
I worked part time on my days off from the Fire Department running heavy equipment, and also driving a dump truck to haul rock and dirt. I also pulled a low boy as needed to move equipment, as well as pulled a log trailer to haul logs.
I worked Fire Rescue in Iraq on both Camp Bucca as well as Camp Warrior.
I worked Fire/Rescue in Iraq on both Camp Liberty and Camp Bucca.
I worked Fire/Rescue with Oconee County Emergency Services.
I was hired with Hutch-N-Son construction around Mar 2003 to be part of a crew to run a Hogzilla tub grinder. When operating the tub grinder we usually fed it with a 325 Cat trackhoe which is what I mostly ran and had anything from a small wheel loader to a D-6 Dozer to stack the mulch. When I was not running the tub grinder I was clearing and grading for subdivision roads, grading pads, as well as occasionally doing hourly work for clients. Also I drove dump trucks, tractor trailer dumps, as well as pulled low boys hauling equipment as needed to keep day to day operations going.
Super Recycling was a company my former company started and I was one of the ones asked to go help start this company. With Super Recycling I worked on a crew where we ran an Eagle portable rock crusher. We traveled to asphalt plants and job sites in SC, NC, and GA crushing/recycling asphalt and concrete to a size range of 1/2" to 3". We used a 300 Komatsu track hoe and a 972 Cat Loader to feed and stack this product. Here I had my own crusher and crew for a time. I also pulled a lowboy to haul our heavy equipment from job to job when we would change locations.
I worked with this company summers in high school from 1996 till I graduated in 1999, when I went to work with them full time. With this company I ran sheep's foot, 9 wheel's, brooms, and tractors early on and later trackhoes (200-330), D-4, working slopes, D-6, D-7 dozers rough grading and D-8 and D-9 Dozers ripping and pushing pans. I ran 621 and 631 cat pans, Cat and Volvo off road trucks, as well as spending a little time on a motor grader grading haul roads. In addition I was able to get my Class A CDL here when I was 19 years old. I drove dump trucks, tractor trailer dumps, and hauled heavy equipment on ramp low boys when I worked here.
