SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor, assists with developing and implementing parks management and maintenance plans to ensure that park facilities are properly maintained.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities:
In the spring of 2008 I bought a local business from Scott Smith. S&G Contracting held the contract for City of Valdez Lawn Maintenance and had a one year renewal left on the contract. City council approved the transition to my name and I successfully competed the contract. In the spring of 2009 I was awarded a new contract for five years with two one year renewals. Over the next seven years I successfully competed the lawn maintenance contract for The City of Valdez. I also had a lawn maintenance contract with Providence Hospital, Wells Fargo Bank, Alaska First National Bank, Valdez School District, and Alaska Housing. Over the years I was also awarded multiple contracts with Harris Sand And Gravel for hydroseeding on there State DOT projects.
In 2016 my Lawn Maintenance Contract ran out with The City Of Valdez and I chose not to rebid on it. I was given the opportunity to become Sound Reality's full time handyman for all of there rental properties and did that for two years. In May of 2018 I applied and was given the job of City of Valdez Parks and Trails Maintenance Foreman.
In May of 2002 I moved to Valdez and was given the opportunity to become a loader and rock crusher operator For Harris Sand Gravel. Over the next seven years operated Rock trucks, scrapers, d-3 dozers, d-8 dozers, d-9 dozers, excavators, boom trucks, and helped maintain asphalt and concrete plants. In the winters I assisted mechanics and welding fabricators in building a yacht for the owner of Harris Sand And Gravel. Other tasks performed were pile driving/dock work, assisting Bill Harris in driving his tug boat and barges to Whittier, Seward, and Homer Alaska. In March of 2008 I was given an opportunity to buy a local business and over the next 11 years I was a subcontractor For Harris Sand And Gravel.
