Summary

I served in the United States Army from 1982 - 1987. As a Military Police officer during my time in service I served in security roles guarding nuclear weapons and in a combat support role in central america . After being honorably discharged from the military I had a few odd jobs and worked in farming and as a police officer. Since 1990 I have worked in emergency care throughout Southeast Missouri as an Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic and Registered Nurse. I have provided care to patients experiencing medical and trauma life threatening situations. I have also worked as an educator, instructing many Emergency Medical Services personnel, nurses and physicians who work in emergency care since 1992. Most all of my nursing career was in emergency care throughout Southeast Missouri. Places I have worked include Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Lucy Lee Hospital in Polar Bluff, Dexter Regional Medical Center in Dexter, MO. , Missouri delta Medical Center in Sikeston. MO. I have always thrived in providing care in emergency situations keeping a level head and thinking about probable outcomes based on treatments. I have And I have been involved in treating patients in mass casualty situations to include shootings as well as motor vehicle accidents, cardiac arrest of adults children and infants, assisted mothers in childbirth and consoled families in times of the death of a loved one. I have always tried to be a very good patient advocate keeping the patient and families best interest in mind at all times and have always maintained a good rapport with other patient care providers maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. As an educator I have always gone above and beyond to ensure student success in my educational programs and have always maintained pass rates on national exams above the national standard. The last paramedic class i taught having a 100% pass rate on the national psychomotor and cognitive exams.

Accomplishments

  • While Serving in the Army in the Military Police Corp I earned a Good Conduct medal as well as two Army Achievement Medals and an Overseas Service ribbon. My greatest accomplishment was earning an Honorable Discharge from the military in 1987.
  • I was responsible for getting the Paramedic program at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center Nationally Accredited. It was only the second program in Missouri to become nationally accredited.
