  • The Afro-Academic Cultural, Technical and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) competition is a major youth initiative of the NAACP. The objective of this program is to prepare, recognize and reward African American youth who exemplify scholastic and artistic excellence through an annual academic Olympics. NAACP Branches nationwide mentor and prepare teams of talented youth to compete locally and nationally.
  • The goal of the committee is to promote academic and artistic excellence among the African-American students in the metropolitan area. We provide an arena where students can compete in 27 different categories in sciences, arts and humanities. The students that achieve a score of 95 or above at the local competition are considered gold medalist and will then compete nationally. Students are paired with a professional mentor in their category to assist in preparing them before the national competition. My responsibilities are as follows:

  • Yearly recruitment of judges, as well as students
