Holiday Smiles: Community family holiday organization
This is a program that I hold near and dear to my heart. My mother and I started this program when I was little when we saw that there were so many children in our hometown area unable to have a Christmas. Many of these children were going without a wrapped gift under a christmas tree to open on Christmas morning. We partnered with our local food-bank as that is where we were able to find deserving and criteria met families and asked them to fill out a tag for as many children that were in the home. The tag holds the children favorite toy or hobbies, clothing size, shoe size, age and gender. Once the tag is filled out my mother and I bring these filled out tags and place them on community trees that we have also partnered with local business to put up. The community then fills the tags with anything they want that is specific to the tag and returns it, everything that comes in is then delivered to the deserving families for the children to open on Christmas morning. We provide the families with the wrapping essentials needed.
