Although I love photography, I can excel in working a good job. I've always dreamed of having a job, I know, silly, but I have always wanted to get to work. For me, photography in yearbook has always been my job, as it takes a lot of hard work and time, and I think being apart of journalism has helped me get even more ready for a real world job.
I joined journalism in high school, where I would take lots of pictures, edit them, and they would be used in the yearbook. I started my junior year, I was new and needed all the help I could get. I'm a senior now, soon to graduate, and became a design editor making the book the way it was. I took photos, edited them, designed pages, and had them used in the yearbook.
When watching my little brother, I would let him watch movies, we would play with toys, and I would always make sure he was fed. My family life was all over the place, it's better now that I am moved out. I was 13, my mom worked over nights, and my dad wasn't around a lot. I stepped up and watched my little brother for four years.
After applying to The University of the Incarnate Word, I was recognized for my academic achievements. With that being noticed, I received a scholarship of $10,000 that is renewable up to $40,000. I also got a $2,000 scholarship that as well was renewable up to $8,000.
