  • Provide oversight and guidance to CPS Supervisors through regular supervision.
  • Monitor and review case decision making for accuracy and practice trends.
  • Participate in state-wide managerial team as well as community task forces.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of employees and document areas of growth and achievement.
  • Utilize data from ROM and CFSR reviews to update practice in order to stay in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Provide support after-hours unit supervisors on-call whenever needed.
  • Direct supervision of all fostering connections cases and that active efforts are being met.

  • Teach Children’s Services at the bachelorette level and master level in regards to how legislative law plays a role in current services for children.
  • Teach Social Policy which is a course that introduces students to constraints and influences of governmental policy making process and the practices of policy analysis and political advocacy.
  • Communicate with students and staff via an academic platform called Brightspace. This allows for consistent flow of communication amongst students and staff and allows each student to know where they stand academically.

  • As a result of law (SB 168) passed in July 2020 New Mexico has extended foster care for youth 18-21 (voluntary). Due to the rollout and new implementation of policy, procedure and practice resulting from the new law I hold several meetings with community partners, stakeholders and legislators to discuss strengths, barriers and data since inception.
  • Supervise 5 employees who each carry about 40 youth who are in foster care and assist them with identifying and advocating for youths medical, physical, psychological and well-being needs. Help them identify services that can teach life skills that will be necessary if the youth ages out of the system (finance, cooking, education, vocational skills).
  • Review legal documentation and transition plans that will be submitted to the court and make recommendation for corrections as needed.
  • Train employees in using a trauma informed approach when working with youth.

Investigations Supervisor

  • Provide direct supervision to child abuse investigators to ensure accurate assessments of families’ safety and risk for best outcomes.
  • Partner with law enforcement, school personnel and community partners to find appropriate services for families to enhance their ability to safely care for their children.
  • Utilize ROM to assess worker’s performance in addition to patterns in the unit that need to be addressed or enhanced.
  • Review legal documentation and case notes of each investigator and make recommendation for corrections as needed.
  • Train investigators as necessary to assure that all case activities are in accordance with policy and procedure.

Trio Achievement Award for Inspiration (May 1, 2009), Given annually to one first generation college student who is believed to be an inspiring individual to students and faculty in the program and on the college campus. It is chosen in conjunction with the dean of students and the program director., Daniels Fund 2007 scholar, The Daniels Fund Scholarship is a four year, full ride scholarship that is given to students in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Utah. This scholarship can be used for any university in the U.S. that admits the recipient. Given as long as scholarship standards are met., 2007 Making A Difference Award, Given annually by the Albuquerque Journal and Sage Magazine to about ten young people across New Mexico who have impacted and changed their community. Recipients are nominated and selected by a board of community members., 2006 Young Woman of Promise Award, Given annually by New Mexico Woman Magazine to ten young women across New Mexico who “are goal-oriented and have a commitment to their community.” Each recipient of this award was nominated by someone in their community and the magazine staff chose from the nominations they received.
