  • Supervised Individuals in Custody on job assignments to maintain the safety and security of the prison as well as ensuring all accountability of Individuals in Custody for cleanliness of that housing unit and maintaining key control
  • Worked many different jobs within the facility to include armory, housing units, gatehouse, visiting room, health care, X-house, and segregation
  • While working the Armory, in charge of disseminating out keys, radios, and handcuffs to proper personnel by recording what was issued out, to whom, what time, and the time that person returned the equipment
  • Also, in charge of keeping institutional count by tracking individuals in the logbook who are entering and/or leaving the institution whether it be transfers to/from another institution/country jail or going home
  • Inventory all equipment to include flashlights, keys, radios, hand cuffs chemical agents, weapons, ammunition, cell phones, as well as writ boxes
  • Monitoring movement of all personnel throughout the prison along with answering phones and directing the call to the proper person
  • In charge of counting chow lines, yard lines, medication lines coming in and out of the housing unit and recording that information on a tracking sheet
  • Ensuring all individuals that have call passes are signed and timed when they leave the housing unit and when they return to the housing unit
  • Confirm with logbook that all keys and radios match up to the information provided
  • Make certain the control room in the house as well as the dayrooms are clean when arriving and proper to leaving the assignment
  • Checking that individuals are complying to the checklist that was given to Correctional Officers as to what they can and cannot have sitting out in their cell
  • Conducting cell shakedowns to ensure that no contraband is found in any cell and if any unauthorized property is found, it is properly documents and given to the Shift Commander where he determines if it is a major or minor infraction
  • Working gatehouse, performing shakedowns on all female visitors and young children prior to entering the facility
  • Have all visitors remove their shoes and coats for those items to be individual shook down as well as the visitors themselves; making sure that they have no contraband on their person
  • This is done by patting down the visitor, ensuring that they have no jewelry on other than a wedding band, no bobby pins, and no gum is in the mouth
  • While in the visiting room, check to see that all visitors have signed in when arriving with their name, whom they are visiting, and their relationship, and verbalizing what table they are assigned to and where to sit
  • Keeping the visiting room clean/sanitized at the end of shift and in an orderly fashion, holding all visitors and individuals to the rules and regulations of the institution
  • Enforce the rule where no contraband is brought into the visiting room
  • Recording the individual’s information down on proper paperwork and notifying the house of the visit and recording the times the individual enters and exits the visiting room
  • Watching and counting medication lines, insulin dependent lines, and recording the number and time entered as well as conducting roll call on those individuals who are on the call pass line
  • Conducting count on those who are assigned to the Health Care Unit and workers; calling the houses confirming that they have an individual out for this location
  • Ensuring that all individuals are taking their medication and not hiding it out of the Health Care Unit as well as taking their insulin and returning the needles back to the nurses
  • Temporarily assigned as the Health Care Unit Office Associate, in charge of answering phones and directing the call to the correct person
  • Receiving request slips to organize and disperse to their respective locations
  • Retrieve any necessary paperwork for the Director of Nursing or Administrator
  • Log any information into the computer
  • Keep track of the Wexford staff in excel by logging the dates and times they worked
  • Calling different pharmacies and counties to retrieve any medical information that was not listed in their medical file to include their COVID cards, medicine, and treatments they were receiving while they were in jail
  • Temporarily assigned as a Correctional Counselor I, responsible for answering phones and providing pertinent information to the caller regarding the individual in custody’s outdate, whether they’re at the current facility, visiting issues
  • Ensuring that individuals who are to receive a legal call and/or visit arrives to their respective location in a timely manner
  • Answer requests that the individual send in the institutional mail, and submit them for any good time, transfer requests, and copies of their visiting and phone lists
  • See assigned individuals in their respective housing units within a given amount of time from the last time they seen a counselor and ask them if they need any assistance with anything
  • Receive grievances from individuals and conduct investigations on whether the situation can be grieved
  • If it is, investigate further as to what cause the situation, why it happened, gather receipts and documents if need, and base the findings of the information acquired

  • Administratively in charge of64 personnel and one full-time person who filed all paperwork and ensured documentation was correct
  • Created presentations that needed to be briefed to the Battalion Commander
  • When conducting a brief, a script was created to brief the Battalion Commander and Brigade Commander on Company information
  • Ensured all Soldiers who were (not) up to date on medical and/or training were placed on a spreadsheet and color coded red, yellow, and green according to the last date proved
  • Once coded, those personnel were compiled into the respective color grouping with primary focus on those who are red, followed by those who are yellow on a spreadsheet along with names provided
  • Explained why they were deficient in their training and medical to the Battalion Commander and how to resolve the issue
  • Once the Soldier was considered ‘green’ they were then imputed into the military system as being up to date on the training/ medical and the date it was completed
  • Counseled Soldiers on their deficiencies by explaining what they did wrong, and how they can either fix or improve the situation and then check on them at the next Battle Assembly and have them debrief me on the status of their situation
  • Every year, a Yearly Training Brief is created and briefed to the Battalion and Brigade Commander, as well as the unit’s Soldiers
  • This brief is displayed in a PowerPoint presentation and explained in detail to where it is easily understood
  • Exuded confidence and well understanding of own presentation along with clear and concise directions as what is to happen; receive guidance as how to improve the training and request resources that are required to fully conduct the training
  • Also, this included knowing the statuses of all personnel in Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment (HHD), who needed to attend school/training, assisted in creating the training schedule for upcoming Battle Assembly Weekends (BAW), inventoried all equipment that is sensitive and non-sensitive items
  • Non-sensitive items are inventoried monthly; according to the memorandum that states which month that item falls under
  • Ten percent of these items are inventoried monthly at100%
  • While operating the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) a work schedule was created for authorized into the TOC due to the sensitivity of information being presented
  • When any intelligence was received by higher command, all information was to be gathered and compiled to be analyzed
  • Each piece of information was deciphered as to who and what was involved in any attacks and checked to see if the information is connected to any prior future events
  • Once analyzed, the information/intelligence was broken down into a more effective understanding
  • Completed a diagnostic Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) each month with two record APFTs given in a fiscal year
  • In charge of over $10 million worth of equipment in over two years as a Detachment Commander
  • Responsible for the training, welfare, readiness, and safety of64 personnel and their families
  • Provided coaching, leadership, and professional development to all Officers and NCOs in the company through personal example and training
  • Created a rating scheme for all Officers and Noncommissioned Officers (NCO’s) in the Battalion as well as memorandums for any Soldiers who are assigned to special assignments

  • Ensured that all Soldiers attended the Anti-Terrorism brief conducted to keep all personnel up to date on current events, any terrorist incidents, what parties are involved, the location and event that took place, what was used to cause the destruction, how the current terrorist attacks compare to any prior events, key things to look for, and how to apply the information given for future events

ACTIVITIES

Stepped up as a Detachment Commander for the419th Movement Control Battalion when no other leadership was capable. Promoted to Captain and took the initiative to be the Human Resources Officer in the3rd Battalion383rd Regiment when they needed a captain. Assisted with the Family Readiness Group with the724th Transportation Company/419th Movement Control Battalion on holiday parties which Soldier’s families participated in and instructed an art class for children during the Christmas party on the drill weekends in December.
