Mental Health Counseling - Awixa Homes of LI, Inc.       09/2021 to 08/2022

• Conducted weekly individual therapy with the residents, that comprised of work on relationships both romantic, familial, and inter/intrapersonal, coping skills for trauma and other mental health diagnoses
• Observed family therapy sessions that were conducted by my supervisor
• Reviewed referrals for potential residents, which consisted of researching their case files and obtaining family history, medical history, diagnoses, full scale-IQ, IEP classification, presenting problems, and creating an overarching treatment plan.
• Spearheaded research on different counseling techniques and topics specifically CBT, vicarious trauma, mental status exams, motivational interviewing, and medical research

Research in Cognitive Psychology

• Researched if whether being a maximizer vs. satisficer will affect person’s susceptibility to fall victim to “fake news”, the effect of a person’s need for cognition, impact of the way people intake news, and the amount of news they intake and its effects on their susceptibility to fall victim to fake news
• Created an online survey in which students were given an online article and they had to make an educated guess if it was fake or actual news, they were also given the maximizer vs. satisfier survey and the need for cognition survey to see if there was any correlation between the two
