Coach/Mentor

Eye Heart World
09.2017 - 03.2020
  • Started out working as a coach in a rehabilitation facility for women who were survivors of sex trafficking. I was eventually promoted to Lead Coach after 6 months and worked as an assistant to the facility's supervisor and licensed therapist. The other coaches reported to me with changes that needed to be made in the facility and/or concerns with residents. Open and constant communication and teamwork were key in the treatment and safety of the residents.
  • I facilitated different groups including a trauma group I was trained to run.
  • I assisted with interview process for new employees as well as residents. I also assisted in intake process with new residents and helped them settle in. Maintained and updated the employee policy and procedure, employee handbook, and the residents' handbook. I provided community resources for the women, provided transportation, helped with resume writing and job searches, enforced rules and guidelines, allotted time for wellness checks throughout the day as well as therapeutic discussions. Maintained a daily schedule for the residents while being able to bend with that if an unexpected situation occurred. In addition to this I was responsible for ensuring the women felt safe and were safe in the home. This included bag and personal checks if needed, regularly checking common area cameras, changing all door/lock codes when any employees or residents permanently left the facility. I coordinated meetings with volunteers, donors, and other organizations we partnered with. I had the privilege of planning graduation ceremonies and making gifts for our graduates. The residents who graduated gave me the opportunity in helping them tell their story by assisting them in the writing and editing of it. With their permission, their experience of "being in the life" was told by them to city officials and/or shared in the donor newsletters.
