Responsible for administering stress tests (nuclear medicine, graded exercise test- GXT, stress echocardiogram, doubutamine), placing heart monitors (zio patches, Biotel ePatches), rooming patients (reviewing medications, allergies, history, vitals), obtaining electrocardiograms (EKGs) and orthostatic blood pressures to support cardiologists in the clinical setting
Responsible for rooming patients (includes obtaining a height, weight, pulse, blood pressure and reviewing medications), prepping charts to make sure all records are available for the doctor, administering electrocardiograms (EKGs) and orthostatic blood pressures to support cardiologists in the clinical setting.
Serving as an integral part of a care team, improving patient’s strength and endurance after a heart related event including:
• Building relationships and open communication with patients
• Assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals
• Communication with physicians
• Sending initial, 30-day and discharge reports to physicians
• Prescribing patient specific exercises, while gradually increasing workload
• Obtaining resting, exercising and recovery blood pressures
• Monitoring patients heart rhythm during exercise
• Administering stress tests (GXT-only, Nuclear Medicine- Cardiolite and Lexiscan)
• Awarded “Guardian Angel” honor given by a patient in recognition for making a meaningful difference through care and service
15-week, 600 hour, hands-on experience in inpatient and outpatient cardiac rehab
• Evaluating patient’s medical history, heart condition and exercise experience
• Communication to patients in small groups and one-on-one
• Determining exercise modality for various types of patients
• Orienting patients to exercise equipment
