Conduct in-depth intake primarily with prospective youth clients (ages 12-24) concerning their civil legal issues.
Interview families, youth, and service providers (probation, hospital staff, counselors, shelter staff, DCYF staff, etc.) about difficult legal problems regarding prospective and current youth clients.
Collect and record demographic information, as well as information about prospective client’s circumstances and lives to help inform decision making around which cases the law office can accept for representation.
Present cases to attorneys on a weekly basis for review and assignment.
Convey information to youth and families when we cannot take their cases, including referrals and other information.
Database mgmt: Open legal case files with complete screening information in case management system, track time in the case management system, create working case files on a shared server, and – at the request of assigned attorneys – request records and get other needed forms from youth and families to initiate a case.
