The Liberation Institute is a grassroots non-profit mental health organization based in San Francisco, CA and Portland, OR; co-created by counselors, psychotherapists, mindfulness teachers, artists and activists from the community we serve. The aim is to fill gaps in the availability of easily accessible professional support for issues related to mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Responsibilities
- Participated in weekly in person and/or virtual clinical supervision sessions with colleagues regularly to discuss cases and receive feedback.
- Conducted in person and telehealth intake assessments to determine suitability for therapy services at Liberation institute and therapist fit.
- Provided weekly in person and telehealth couple, group and individual counseling sessions with a focus on meeting clients where they are at in their healing journeys
- Communicated and co-created clear boundaries with clients to maintain the therapeutic frame.
- Developed treatment plans based on clients' needs, goals and desired outcomes, incorporating integral counseling techniques/interventions.
- Client advocacy/education about available resources in their community to help address life/relationship challenges.
- Created supportive relationships with clients by actively listening and responding empathetically during sessions.
- Challenged problematic client behavior/narratives with reality testing and healthier alternatives.
- Evaluated client progress and therapeutic relationship regularly throughout the course of treatment and adjusted approach/interventions as needed.
- Assisted clients in identifying sources of stress within their lives/relationships and developing strategies to address and manage it effectively with healthier coping strategies.
- Leveraged practice management software to maintain accurate client records and progress notes, including documentation of all interactions, treatments, and outcomes in accordance with BBS standards.
- Collaborated with other mental health professionals to coordinate care for clients and referred clients when necessary
- Provided crisis intervention services when necessary to ensure safety of client(s) involved.
- Participated in ongoing professional development workshops/trainings
