I spent 9 years as IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) Zone 7 (Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma) Region 2, 3, President. This role is critical in the success of not only my equestrian team but for those of every team within my zone and region to advance to nationals and onto collegiate riding. This position is a yearly elected position not only because of my success in leadership but my skills within maintaining good professional relationships with all teams and their coaches. I was continuously voted to return each year for that duration. I was responsible for hosting the largest region finals shows in our zone to ensure any team inside my jurisdiction had the best chances to proceed to nationals. This was usually 12-30 teams consisting of 200-300 riders, plus their coaches. I had to maintain a healthy inventory of supplies to host the events, coordinate with other elected hired/paid officials, and maintain our yearly budget for each region to ensure we had proper allotted funds to support that region. Communication was of the upmost importance for solid relationships within the regions, handling conflicts with professionalism and care to ensure that everyone was supported and satisfied.
