I am a newly Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator, but I am not new to the Long Term Care field, as I am going in to my 10th year of being in Long Term Care. I started in a leadership position of Business Office Manager/HR/Payroll, of which I took on with no prior experience and have excelled. That role has ignited my passion for serving in the Long Term Care industry. I plan to help my facility thrive as a whole to include my residents and my employees, all while keeping the companies goals and financial well-being in to consideration.
I completed my Administrator in Training Internship while also being employed as the Business Office Manager.
Through out my internship I assisted the Administrator with a variety of tasks that had been asked of me to complete. I met the requirements of the 1000 hour internship which involved observing and learning from all of the different departments and different regulatory requirements. I was able to observe a life safety code survey, and also went through annual state survey. I was given the opportunity to complete a state reportable event, from start to finish, with the review/approval from the administrator. I have gained a lot of knowledge from observing my administrator throughout the course of my internship.
Along with completing my internship, I have also fulfilled my duties as the Business Office Manager of the Facility. I was responsible for collections of monthly room and board payments. In charge of the resident Trust Fund accounts. Checked Insurance for prospective residents, prior to admission, and obtained insurance authorization when needed. Helped residents apply for Medicaid or other insurance benefits when needed. Assisted anywhere else as needed. Anytime the admissions and marketing director was out I was her back up. Due to this I have been able to gain experience giving facility tours, work with hospital case managers, coordinate admissions, and complete admission paperwork.
I played volleyball throughout high school and college. I was the team captain on my high school team, as well as when I was at Hill College. I also participated in basketball, track, and tennis in high school. Playing these different sports taught me leadership skills in different atmospheres. That has helped me to be able to transform my leadership skills to best fit the situation at hand.
