As the OR technician, my job was to set up the C-Arm, Arthrex arthroscopic tower, and Storz laparoscopic equipment, along with organizing the instruments on the surgery table per each surgeon's preference. I stayed with my patient throughout the surgery to hand off any additional instruments needed, and to run the surgical equipment listed above. I worked with orthopedics, soft tissue, neurology, oncology, and ophthalmology surgeries. During the downtime, I helped our sterile supply department get contaminated instruments sterilized and processed to be put back into rotation for use.
My tasks included sedating patients for severe soft-tissue wound management. I ran the table while monitoring the patients' vitals and providing the doctor with the supplies needed, while remaining sterile. On the orthopedic aspect of my duties, I placed vet lite splints and bandages for pre-op fracture stabilization, as well as post-op and weekly rechecks.
