My work history shows very little experience, and it’s due to not being able to continue to work because of a car accident and the life-altering injuries I sustained from it on November 16, 2007. I was a passenger in an automobile accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down. I endured a T4/T7 incomplete spinal cord injury. As an incomplete spinal cord-injured person, I have movement and sensation below my injury. I pushed myself for 7 years to gain strength in hopes of walking again, but it just wasn't in the cards. After this heartbreaking, life-changing tragedy, I had to overcome many obstacles and grow mentally and emotionally. At the time of my accident, I just turned 20 years old, and I was also a mom to a 17-month-old little boy who counted on me to keep fighting to gain what independence and pride I had left. After pushing myself for 7 years to relearn to walk and coming to terms that I was unsuccessful, I decided to make the best out of a bad situation and go back to school so I could enrich both my life and my son's life. While working on my degrees I homeschooled my son from 2nd grade- 6th. In 2017 I finished by bachelors of science in addiction counseling. I'm very proud to say I graduated with honors/ cum Laude. After graduation I got married and decided I would be a homemaker while my husband worked. We now have a total of 4 children 20, 7, 5 and 1! Recently, I obtained a degree in administrative justice so I could become a probation officer. I decided to get the credentials for a probation officer because I wanted to have as many options as possible regarding a career. My goal is to move forward and live my best life with my family while helping others and gaining more life experiences in the workforce. I may not have a lot of work experience but my life experience has equipped me for challenges most wouldn't understand. My life trials and tribulations have given me a unique perspective that I am anxious to share with others who may be struggling. I feel confident in my abilities through my experiences in life to help those in need.
