The Assistant barn manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure policies, procedures, and programs related to staff, horses, and visitors to the barn, both riders and those on the ground, that are set by the Barn Director and HOA are followed. The. Assistant barn manager will help manage the the volunteer programs. He/she will assist with oversight of staff and volunteers during amenity riding and on the ground activities. Will assist with the physical therapy exercises of the horses. Will assist with veterinarian and farrier visits as required. Is responsible for helping in the routine care of the horses including feeding, medications, turn out and bring in, grooming, and stall cleaning. Is responsible for helping in the care of the barn itself with upkeep, cleaning and organizing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists the Stables Director in the day-to-day operations of the Stable facility, animals, staff, volunteers and all SLLA riding programs
• Conducts daily health and wellness checks on the animals, taking note of overall body condition and any injuries sustained
• Responsible for weekly pasture maintenance via dragging and taking note of changes in growth
• Conducts daily safety inspection of the facility and equipment, reporting to the Stables Director any issues needing to be addressed
• Helps maintain clean conditions at the facility and performs small repairs
• Helps enforce SLLA operating procedures and policies maintaining a safe environment for members and their guests
• Reports all incidents & accidents to the Stables Director and creates an incident report.
• Assists the Stable Director with publication and website development pertaining to Stables facility, animals, and events
• Complies with ADP & SLLA employee policies
• Responds to after-hour emergency calls
• Performs other duties as directed by the Stables Director
• Works for the betterment of SLLA and the community
US Army Military family readiness group leader- a volunteer position that manages family events, communication between military spouses and the command, point of contact for spouses that has any concerns or needs, and coordinate fundraising.
