Work History
Head Lifeguard
YWCA
Mahwah, NJ
06.2023 - 08.2024
I worked at the YWCA Mahwah as their head lifeguard every day from early June through August. I felt confident in both my swimming and leadership abilities to upgrade my role from lifeguard to head lifeguard. This job differed greatly from my previous lifeguard jobs, as it was at a lake on the top of a mountain. This camp had many hazards, such as large rocks, wild animals, and a deep lake, that I had to be constantly aware of daily. Working with such young children taught me how to approach situations with grace, yet to be firm and authoritative when I felt it necessary. At this job, I taught boating, swimming, fishing, and even stepped in as a counselor when they needed me. I was in charge of four other lifeguards and instructed them in both learning situations and dangerous situations as well.
Lifeguard
YMCA
Wyckoff, NJ
05.2022 - 08.2022
After my first job as a lifeguard, I realized that I needed to branch out and work at a larger organization. At the YMCA, I now worked at a lake, and I needed one additional certification to do so. For this job, I was on the stand for approximately 3-4 hours per day, as I worked in shifts. At the end of the day, I would rake the sand, take out the garbage, and roll down all umbrellas.
Lifeguard
Old Mill Pool
Woodcliff Lake, NJ
05.2021 - 08.2021
As my first job, I worked as a lifeguard at my local town pool. I used downtime in the COVID pandemic to strengthen my swimming skills, to be more than prepared for my certification for this job. When I worked at the Old Mill Pool, I was on watch from 9:30 am to about 7 pm. Additionally, I did some ground cleaning tasks, such as taking out the garbage and emptying pool filters.

Volunteer Experience
I worked as a volunteer ice skating instructor for Montclair State University's "Monarchs" Skating Program. To utilize my ice skating abilities, I taught special needs children how to ice skate.
Additionally, I volunteered with Hackensack Riverkeeper, Inc where I went to various locations in my area to help rid riverbeds and their surrounding area of pollution and careless waste disposal.
