  • Work within a team atmosphere as an Internal Resource Pool (IRP) Speech Language Pathologist employee within the outpatient ENT Oncology and Acute Care Rehab Services teams
  • Participate in a wide variety of standardized assessment and treatment techniques for dysphagia, speech-language and cognitive-linguistic disorders
  • Regularly provide Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) to further evaluate oropharyngeal dysphagia
  • Evaluate and treat a variety of patient populations, with a focus on head and neck cancer, other solid body cancers outside of head/neck, acute trauma, burns, and neurological disorders in addition to providing care for patients who are post-extubation, ventilator dependent, post-cardiac interventions and organ transplants.
  • Evaluation and treatment of patients with trach and ventilator dependency for dysphagia and speaking valves (Passy-Muir) as appropriate
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and provided care for indwelling tracheoesophageal voice prostheses (TEP), including prosthesis changes and voice restoration management in post-total laryngectomy patients.
  • Provide education and support for patients and their families. Including pre- and post-operative education for total laryngectomy patients; addressing changes in respiration, communication, and swallowing. Delivered individualized counseling and training in alternative communication methods including electrolarynx use and AAC strategies to support successful surgical outcomes and quality of life.
  • Worked well in a team setting, providing support and guidance while demonstrating respect, friendliness and willingness to help wherever needed.
