Summary

I have been dedicated to special education at FCSD #21 since 2007. Over the past 18 years, I have had the opportunity to observe, implement, and refine strategies that support, inspire, and empower staff to do what is best for students. After earning my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Wyoming, I began my career as a special education teacher, working with students from kindergarten through high school from 2007 to 2015. In the fall of 2015, I transitioned into a dual role, balancing special education teaching with case management responsibilities. By 2016, I stepped fully into the role of special education case manager, further deepening my expertise in individualized student support. In 2020, I was recommended to step into the Special Education Director position, a role I have proudly served in since. Throughout my tenure, I have gained extensive hands-on experience in supporting staff and, most importantly, ensuring students receive the resources they need to succeed. I have actively researched, identified, and collaborated with teams to implement appropriate programs, accommodations, and technology supports that enable students to access the general education curriculum effectively. Additionally, I have had the privilege of working alongside exceptional professionals, including speech-language pathologists (SLPs and SLP-As), occupational therapists (OTs and OTAs), physical therapists (PTs and PTAs), vision and hearing specialists, orientation and mobility providers, therapists, counselors, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) representatives, Medicaid waiver case managers, Social Security providers, WDE staff, behavioral consultants, and autism specialists. These experiences have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of all disability categories and the collaborative approach necessary for student success.
