Brooke Heaney

• During this clinical fieldwork, I worked with children experiencing barriers to participation in their daily lives due to a variety of conditions, disorders or limitations. I planned and facilitated therapy sessions, conducted evaluations, assessments and collaborated with colleagues and families to create and implement individualized treatment plans and home programming.

• Throughout this clinical rotation, I worked with patients individually during their stay in transitional care, often before they return home or to long-term care. This patient population varied, and included oncology, transplant, post-surgical, TBI, paraplegic, respiratory, neuro and cardiac patients. I conducted evaluations, assessments and daily treatment sessions; tailoring each session to client's specific condition and needs.

· Observed Occupational Therapy group sessions in HCMC day program, assisted with chart review and documentation, and implemented educational lesson on stress management and coping skills

· Created programming for young adults with disabilities focused on functional independence, collaborated with student peers to develop curriculum and educational materials, and facilitated individualized and group discussion on goal setting.

• Assisted patients during Occupational and Physical Therapy treatment sessions, supported patients individually with functional mobility, transfers and transportation, and carried out clerical tasks and scheduling in rehabilitation department.

• Planned and implemented training and choreography for a team of high school athletes 6 days a week, worked with student athletes one on one with goal setting, and collaborated with a team on coaches on planning, scheduling, and implementing of season.

• Developed and directed creative enrichment activities for an afterschool enrichment program and assisted students in pre-K through 5th grade with mathematical, reading, writing skills.

• Worked directly with the Health Services coordinators to develop, promote and run events on campus and created promotional items using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop for print and web.

• Collaborated with founders to promote foundation exposure in hospital settings, and connected with health care setting administrators to expand project into a variety of healthcare buildings

• Assisted individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries, or experiencing other mind-altering conditions with activities of daily living, collaborated with clients to create individualized plans to meet their goals, and completed daily medication administration and full documentation.

• Served as an advocate for women and their children facing domestic abuse - answered trauma calls, conducted full documentation of reports, and assisted with resident's daily needs.
