Since having my daughter, I have been a stay at home parent to two special needs children many believe that this position does not enhance my work history, I must disagree. I have learned how to manage my time better than ever before. I am able to effectively handle various tasks in a short amount of time. I have learned how to meet the needs of individuals who do not have words to express themselves, or struggle to do so. My patience, confidence, and skills have improved drastically over the last 6+ years. While, taking care of my family, I also obtained a degree online successfully, having graduated with As in all courses. I have learned the value of time and energy, and where to place them both when it matters. I am more self motivated, with a stronger sense of personal responsibility. I mastered my skills of learning quickly and adapting to new situations. I work well in fast paced environments and with a team.
I worked at this facility on two separate occasions a few years apart. All responsibilities were the same as those listed for my time there in 2017. However, during my first position at the jail I worked nights instead of days. There are a few additional that were my responsibilities that differ from my time working on day shift. Including passing out mail to all inmates. Passing out and collecting razors. Additionally, night shift is responsible for getting all inmates to their cells for bedtime headcount. I ensured the pods were cleaned regularly each evening. I also safeguarded nursing staff to inmates cells for their various checks and or medication pass. As a CO on both shifts, I passed chow out to hundreds of inmates, collected all trays and utensils. As well as, saw to any needs such as needing hygiene items, changing out blankets, uniforms, and sheets when needed.
I am passionate about helping people. For previous jobs, I have been trained in CPR, de-escalation, mental health matters, various illegal substances, and how to successfully interact with people in various states of mental and emotional stress. My education in criminal justice and psychology has taught me a great deal about how to handle individuals and situations that are fragile. I am skilled in many various categories I believe would be beneficial in this position. I have worked in a Trauma Navigational Program. I am currently in an Adult Children of Alcoholics Program, as well as a Loving Parent Study. My extracurriculars include reading various books in different categories such as self-development and improvement, spirituality, empowering women books, and fiction as well. I also journal and do creative writing. I am a wife, mother, sister, and granddaughter, and active in my family relationships. As an individual who works in an ACA program and therapy, I am continuously growing and evolving as an individual. I am a people person who takes any job I have very seriously. I want to help individuals who are struggling. Though I have never had a substance abuse problem, I have had many individuals in my life who have including parents, siblings, and close friends. I am well knowledgeable in the area and open to learning new information. I also studied Psychology while getting my Criminal Justice degree therefore, I have a wide range of education and experience in this area. I am a source of help and advice to many people in my life and would love the opportunity to do so professionally. I do not shy away from challenges, I embrace them head-on.
