Summary

Even though I have never had a job before due to my school and theater schedule taking up a vast majority of my time, I am confident that I would be a great employee for this company. I have always admired Chick-fil-a as a company since I have heard that it is a great environment to work in. Every interaction that I have had with Chick-fil-a employees has been very positive and it has made me really want to join the team. I always put my all into everything such as school and theater, and since I am starting college this fall and my theater season is over, I finally have enough time in my schedule to settle down and commit myself to a job, either full-time or part-time, whatever is required of me. Family, friends, parents of friends, and teachers have always encouraged me and told me that I am more than capable of achieving my dreams and that I can handle a lot more than I think I can, so again, I believe that I will be a great fit for the company since I am flexible and willing to do whatever is asked of me with a smile. I have a strong, "You say jump, I say 'how high'?" mentality along with an "Anything worth doing once is worth doing right," one which has been instilled into me by my family. I am also very friendly and personable and, even though I have never actually worked in costumer service before, due to my experience with tutoring and volunteering at my church, helping people while maintaining a kind disposition is in my nature.

Work History

Volunteer

Crossroads Christian Church

I would attend the first service at my church on Sunday at 9:00 am and then serve with the 3 and 4-year olds during the second church service. I would play with them, give them snacks, and help them with activities to help them understand the message of the service. I unfortunately could not find the dates that I started or stopped, but I believe that I started during 6th grade and ended during 8th grade once my schedule became more busy, even on Sundays, and I could no longer stay for both services. Still, I really enjoyed serving and giving back to the church. I also helped at out Vacation Bible Schools.

  • Volunteered at church-sponsored outreach events, providing polite, friendly representation.
  • Coordinated with other volunteers to create a welcoming environment at worship services and special events.
  • Sourced and distributed food and supplies to those in need.
  • Helped with special events such as Vacation Bible School to coordinate resources, spaces, and schedules.
  • Taught Sunday school classes to impart values of faith.
  • Organized weekly youth activities for increased church engagement.
  • Supported Sunday school programming by developing creative lesson plans that engaged children in age-appropriate learning activities.
  • Led worship music performances during services, uplifting the congregation through song and praise.
  • Built church community children's morals and values through mentoring service.

Tutor

Clara Barton Elementary School
08.2016 - 05.2018

Between 4th and 6th grade, during my lunch period, I would go to my former first grade teacher's classroom and help tutor her students with reading and math assignments that they were struggling with. She would offer me candy as "payment" but I would turn it down because I just thought it was fun and I liked helping the kids, especially since my 1st grade teacher was my favorite elementary school teacher.

  • Collaborated with students to complete homework assignments, identify lagging skills, and correct weaknesses.
  • Motivated students towards learning and studying to build self-confidence and reduce fear of failure.
  • Provided one-on-one tutoring sessions, tailoring instruction to meet the specific needs of each student while promoting independent learning skills.
  • Supported students with helpful study habits and exam strategies.

  • Increased student comprehension by utilizing personalized teaching methods and adapting to individual learning styles.
  • Collaborated with fellow tutors to develop effective strategies for addressing diverse student needs and abilities.

Theater, reading, writing

These are hobbies that I love and pride myself on.

I have been doing theater since I was eleven years old and have only recently had to stop with my final show being in March since I will not be able to continue in college and with a job. I have made so many friends and amazing friends through it and I am quite upset that I have to give it up at least for the time being, but I will maintain the friendships I cultivated and I will hopefully be able to do community theater once I am older.

I love reading and writing books and I hope to be an author when I am older. I am going to be studying psychology at Mt. SAC, the community college I will begin attending in the fall, but once I transfer to a four-year university, I will be studying forensic science. But even once I am a CSI or a crime scene technician, I am going to write books at the same time. I have written many stories in my free time that I someday hope will be good enough to publish, just as good as the stories that I love currently. One of my dreams is for someone to send me a letter, email, or even walk up to me at a restaurant, and tell me that they have stayed up all night reading one of my books, that they have written fanfiction or made fanart, that they are just as obsessed with it as I am with some of my favorite reads.
