I have worked many jobs, each one taught me something different. However, I wanted to do something that would allow me to pursue my passion. I love science and helping others. Which brought me to do research. I thought about nursing but I knew I would get too attached to my patients and I would be devastated if I were ever to lose them. This is when I stumbled across an x-ray technician. This career combined all my passions into one job, I still would be able to help my patients on their journey to recovery but I wouldn't get too attached since I would only be with them for a short time. It also involves a specific type of physics that interests me.
I did my senior project with a tech who works at Bozeman Health. I was able to conduct an interview as well as speak to different modalities. After conducting this interview I was so excited to start my path as an x-ray tech. I went to Montana Tech in hopes of getting into their program. During my time there I had to complete a certain amount of job shadowing hours. Bozeman Health was more than happy to have me shadow at their main campus. I got to experience trauma situations, procedures, as well as outpatient services. I was only allowed 16 hours but I didn't want to leave. I had such a great experience and knew this was the place where I wanted to begin my career.
Once I got into a program, Bozeman Health was so gracious in letting me complete my clinical hours at their sites. I have learned so much and got to build long-lasting connections with the staff as well as my patients. The team there welcomed me with open arms. Each day I am there my love for my career and my peers continues to grow.
Each day in the radiology program, I try my hardest in my classes and I work hard during my clinical hours. I am open to learning anything new and love working with our team. I hope to become a part of this team when the time comes.
