KS Associates serves the Coastal/Marine market by helping clients plan, design, and implement projects that preserve and enhance valuable waterfront resources. We work with property owners, marina owners, port authorities, park districts, dock manufacturers, industrial owners, communities, and other clients, helping to implement safe and effective solutions for all types of marine projects.
The Offshore Technology Research Center provides technology, expertise, and developmental services to companies around the world. As a student technician I assisted in these projects by both constructing and performing maintenance on the client’s models and on the OTRC’s wavemaker.

Cleveland Harbor Eastern Embayment Resilience Study (CHEERS), Cleveland Metroparks and Various Stakeholders, Cleveland, Ohio
KS is on a team led by ARUP Engineering for this transformative project to revitalize the eastern Cleveland
lakeshore. KS is providing coastal engineering consultation – from the technical evaluation and concept development
to preliminary and final design. KS is participating in virtual community engagement meetings, developing Wave
Prediction Model and Metocean Analyses to evaluate conditions that will impact the design of proposed
infrastructure, and performing constructability reviews and cost estimating. Brooks assisted field investigations for
approximately 960 acres of hydrographic surveying; Assisted with Metocean Analysis; assisted with geotechnical
investigations; Assisted with Benefit Coast Analysis proposals for the project; Created an Engineering Opinion of
Probable Cost, Civil 3D Drawings, and Design Calculations for roughly 7,000 Linear Feet of Breakwater and is
providing coastal engineering services as needed for this multi-year project.
Magee Marsh Shoreline Protection Barrier Rehabilitation, Ohio Department of Natural Resources
KS led the design of a 1.5-mile shoreline rehabilitation at Magee Marsh. KS provided engineering services to
rehabilitate the shoreline protection revetment that was damaged from storm events. Work included developing
conceptual-level opinions of probable costs; a plan for phasing the project; a permitting strategy; a schedule for
design and construction; and design services. As Project Engineer, Brooks assisted with preparing final construction
drawings, Construction Inspections, calculating material quantities, and developing an opinion of costs. The project
went out to bid two months ahead of schedule.
Lakeside Chautauqua Revetment at West End Shoreline, Lakeside, Ohio
KS designed a new 500 LF armor stone revetment at the west end of the Lakeside Chautauqua property. The
revetment was designed to stabilize the shoreline along the property and protect it from erosion. KS also prepared
USACE and ODNR shore structure permit applications, prepared a Submerged Lands Lease Plat, and provided
bidding and construction phase services. Brooks performed the hydrographic survey, generated permitting
applications, produced permit drawings, and fabricated an engineers opinion of probable cost for the project.
Port of Detroit Waterfront Inspection, Crown Enterprises LLC
KS was contracted to inspect 700 linear feet of waterfront infrastructure at the Port of Detroit. The coastal engineering
team identified deficiencies in maritime structures and provided recommendations for rehabilitating or replacing
infrastructure. The project included a site assessment, coordinating a dive inspection, and delivering a Condition
Assessment Report.

Capstone Design - Tasked with designing a Rookery Island and complimentary breakwater system in Galveston Bay for HDR. I oversee the economic analysis for the project, which includes maintaining the $9,500,000 budget, reaching out to contractors for estimates and materials, and providing revenue solutions. On top of this, I have assisted on the breakwater design calculations.
