The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in fostering a positive, student-centered learning environment and plays a key role in advancing the school’s vision and instructional goals. In
collaboration with the Principal, the Assistant Principal ensures the effective operation of the school through the following responsibilities:
• Support Vision and Leadership: Assist in promoting the school’s strategic vision by modeling high expectations, reinforcing schoolwide goals, and encouraging a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Instructional Implementation: Partner with the Principal to monitor and adjusted based on student needs.
• Professional Development: Collaborate in planning and delivering professional development that aligns with school priorities and enhances teacher effectiveness.
• Stakeholder Communication: Support clear, consistent communication with students, staff, families, and the community to reinforce the school’s mission, celebrate successes, and address concerns.
• Data Analysis and Instructional Support: Work with teachers and instructional teams to analyze student performance data, identify instructional gaps, and implement strategies that support targeted student growth. classroom instruction and support the consistent implementation of research-based teaching practices. The District Reading Instructional Developer strengthens literacy instruction across the district by providing data-driven coaching, curriculum development, and strategic support to school-based leaders and teachers. This role works closely with principals, reading coaches, district administrators, and instructional teams to ensure high-quality, standards-aligned reading instruction in every elementary classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructional Coaching and School Support: Provide targeted support to struggling schools by disaggregating student performance data, identifying instructional gaps, and coaching teachers through actionable feedback and modeling of effective reading practices.
• Professional Development: Design, deliver, and evaluate professional learning sessions that strengthen teachers' understanding of the standards and ensure curriculum support materials are used effectively and with fidelity.
• Reading Coach Supervision & Support: Help supervise, mentor, and develop school-based reading coaches to ensure they are equipped to serve as effective “boots-on-the-ground” instructional leaders within their schools.
• Curriculum Development: Create and refine districtwide curriculum support materials that align with state standards and reading best practices, ensuring consistency and clarity for all elementary schools.
• ELA Thought Partnership: Serve as a trusted advisor to principals, instructional teams, and school staff—providing expertise, resources, and strategic guidance on any ELA-related topic or initiative they wish to explore.
• Communication & Collaboration: Maintain clear, ongoing communication with district leadership regarding school needs, instructional trends, and emerging challenges; contribute to district-level planning and decision-making related to literacy instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructional Planning and Delivery: Design and implement rigorous, standards-based lessons that meet diverse learning needs, integrate research-based instructional practices, and promote critical thinking, collaboration, and independence.
• Differentiation and Student Support: Use data and formative assessments to differentiate instruction, provide targeted small-group or individual support, and ensure students receive appropriate academic and behavioral interventions aligned with MTSS expectations.
• Classroom Management: Establish a positive, structured classroom environment through clear expectations, responsive management strategies, and a focus on building strong teacher-student relationships.
• Assessment and Data Analysis: Regularly assess student learning using district and classroom tools; analyze data to monitor progress, identify instructional gaps, and adjust instruction to support continuous student growth.
• Collaboration and Professional Learning: Work closely with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and administrators to plan instruction, share best practices, and engage in ongoing professional development aligned with school and district priorities.
• Family and Community Communication: Maintain consistent, transparent communication with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and ways to support learning at home; contribute positively to schoolwide events and community engagement efforts.
• Professional Responsibilities: Demonstrate professionalism through timely completion of required tasks, adherence to school and district policies, active participation in meetings, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
