I worked 30 years for The United States Postal Service, the last 10 of which, as a Customer Service Supervisor. My primary focus was as Customer Supervisor running an efficient and effective window sales/service (stamps and product sales) while also managing the office's daily mail dispatch operation in the back. I oversaw a team of 25+ employees.
I worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, the last 10 of which of was, as a Customer Service Supervisor. I supervised 25+ people in both dispatch operations as well as front counter stamps and products sales. Duties included customer service issues and complaints, audits, deposits, and weekly work scheduling.
The district asked me to be the "Officer in Charge" to fill in as Postmaster in numerous post offices throughout New Mexico and Arizona. I worked 6 different post offices, some up to 3-4 months as the acting Postmaster. As Postmaster, I was ultimately responsible for every aspect of the operations in those offices.
As the Postmaster, I tracked the office goals and would meet with the supervisors the both go over the office goals as well as their individual goals and review their progress. It was my ultimate responsibility for the office to meet and maintain the office goals.
When a problem escalated with one the regular supervisor they either could not handle or have the authority to handle, I would deal with the customer to help resolve the problem or issue or when the customer insisted on speaking with the Postmaster.
The district asked me to be both an individual instructor as well as work as a team trainer for many new programs and safety rollout procedures. I had to learn the material and present it in an effective and hopefully interesting way to both groups of people as well as one on one.
One particular training, I was part of a 15 person team for one of the largest program rollouts for USPS. It was a major change in how frontline supervisors planed the daily workload and interacted with letter carriers in every post office. I worked throughout the state of New Mexico in both large group presentations as well as one one. This was a 4, almost 5 month project and was a very successful rollout.
