  • After almost a decade of professional experience and career success in technology sales I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own company, Formerly Pangea. The idea built up in my head ever since a 2020 week long trip to Yosemite, Zion, and other national parks in the area. National parks have garish merchandise and there are less than a handful of national brands that serve the hundreds of millions of national park visitors. I just need a small piece of the pie to be financially successful. I was very familiar with the Ecommerce business model from my time and Brex while the newest capabilities of generative AI made it possible for an individual with no design skills to create products, a website, social media, advertisements and other content. The alleur of growing my own business and all the freedoms that come with entrepreneurial success spurred me into action in March of 2023.
  • I realized that building a business from scratch is not for me. Mostly because it is exceedingly lonely. I didn't appreciate how much day-to-day personal satisfaction I got from working with clients, from being on a team. Despite Gen AI being very useful, it is still very incomplete, I still found myself entrenched in design work 8-10 hours a day. Being that isolated everyday ate away at my soul.
  • While I learned a lot in 2023, ultimately it was a major setback financially and for my career goals. 2024 will be entirely focused on re-establishing my career as an Fortune 500 enterprise sales rep for a technology company.
  • Specifically I am targeting a startup with a highly technical product to technical client stakeholders who are tasked with enabling the core of their business. Developer tools, analytics/visualization tools, and cyber security stand out to me. Fintech, applications of generative AI/LLMs and e-commerce SaaS tools are also of interest. More important than what I sell is the company I sell for and their product market fit.
