Work History

Opto Mechanical Engineer

ONTO Innovation
Milpitas, CA
06.2022 - Current
  • Designed precision opto-mechanical hardware for next-generation wafer metrology systems.
  • Developed containment and position control solutions for UV/laser sources.
  • Optimized the design of wafer handling systems, expanding market reach for existing products.
  • Involved in various 'continuous improvement' mechanical design projects to further optimize performance across existing product line (lift tooling, fixtures, electrical enclosures, motion system/platform improvements, etc.).
  • Traveled abroad to customer sites to resolve revenue-critical escalations.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation.
  • Analyzes system requirements to deliver innovative solutions for complex challenges.

Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

ONTO Innovation
Milpitas, CA
06.2020 - 06.2022
  • Improved the safety of capital equipment when shipped to customers by designing critical lift tooling.
  • Designed a wafer containment system to eliminate the build up contaminant particles on silicon wafers.
  • Established test methods and acceptance criteria for verifying operation linear motion systems.
  • Gained experience in documenting changes on existing designs and releasing new designs within the product lifecycle workflow.

Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

Nanometrics
Milpitas, CA
06.2019 - 09.2019
  • Supported efforts to modernize legacy products by redesigning enclosures for packaging optical elements in lens assemblies.
  • Designed a portable gas flow measurement device to enhance technician efficiency in the integration process.
  • Created a fixture for calibrating spectrometers while also protecting technicians from UV exposure.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

Nanometrics
Milpitas, CA
06.2018 - 12.2018
  • Supported testing of wafer handling equipment, measuring coefficient of friction to understand effects on throughput.
  • Designed precision alignment tooling for optical stages, ensuring smooth operation of moving optics.
  • Contributed to prototype builds, gaining insights into metrology systems.
  • Created CAD models, ensuring clear communication with vendors for part fabrication.

Education

Bachelor of Science - Aerospace Engineering

Skills

  • Opto Mechanical/ Mechanical Design
  • Prototype Development
  • FEA and failure analysis
  • Computer-Aided Design
  • Hand calculations
  • 2D and 3D modeling
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Technical Documentation

Additional projects

  • Formula SAE - Lead Suspension Engineer: Led a tight knit team in designing the suspension system for an open wheeled race car. In this role I gained experience on team leadership, creating requirements, project management, fabricating components, and mechanical design.
  • Senior Design - Project LEONIDAS 3U CubeSat: For my senior design project I led a team of 6 seniors and 4 freshman to design and build a prototype miniature satellite known as a cube sat. I also contributed to this project by owning the task of designing the structure and sub-system architecture. I also managed to raise over $1000 USD in order to fund this project.
