First 9 years I was our west river agronomist handling accounts of all sizes and scopes of operation from irrigated to no-till dryland accounts. Several years I had around 20 different crops that customers grew and I scouted. Made fertilizer, seed, and chemical recommendations and sales, with emphasis on pre-pay and preseason planning to set up growing season success. Worked to sell and coordinate custom spray and application jobs off all types.
The past 3 years I have been tasked with starting a feed division from scratch. I do all sales and purchasing within the feed division and handle either doing or coordinating all delivery.
Worked on all types of ag development projects across South Dakota with emphasis on livestock development. Worked to leverage connections with programs and situations to help companies start up or expand in the state. I also worked directly with producers and producer groups in the state to add value to their products and their industries.
While with the South Department of Agriculture I was selected into the Governors Leadership Development program finishing 75% of required credits for a Masters in Business Administration through the University of South Dakota.
I worked on the Nutrient Management Team writing Manure Management Plans for Confined Animal Feeding Operations that were going through state permitting and/or federal EQIP contracting. This involved working with producers to get accurate records of their crop plans and nutrient needs in relationship to their manure and nutrient production. This position also included follow through with producers to make sure they were staying on task with their plan and keeping accurate records.
